Lobel Weiland Golden Friedman LLP is proud to announce founding partner Jeffrey Golden will serve as a mentor for the University of California, Irvine’s (UCI) Moot Court Team at the annual Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition. The UCI law students will participate on March 6, 2016 in New York City at the competition that is jointly sponsored by St. John’s University School of Law and the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). The Annual Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition celebrates its 24th year and has earned the recognition as one of the nation’s preeminent moot court competitions. The event attracts approximately 60 law schools making it the largest single site appellate moot court competition in the country. The competition culminates in a gala awards dinner that draws more than 1,000 attendees, including leading bankruptcy judges and practitioners.
Golden, who is also an adjunct professor of bankruptcy law at UCI, stated, “I am delighted that I was chosen to help the law students at UCI to utilize this competition as an opportunity to develop some of the key skills that will allow them to become great lawyers.”
Golden is a Receiver, Bankruptcy Trustee, and Examiner. He also serves as an expert witness in federal and state criminal and civil matters. Golden concentrates his practice in the areas of complex bankruptcy litigation, business reorganizations, and commercial litigation in the state and federal courts. He is a graduate of the Straus Institute for Alternative Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law and serves on the panel of trained mediators in bankruptcy matters for the United States Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California.
